Systems, function, anatomy, relation to other systems Flashcards
To master function , anatomy and synergy
Respiratory system (meaning)
This system allows air to enter the lungs through the mouth and nose. oxygen is extracted and diffuses into the bloodstream for distribution through the body C02 is returned to the lungs and exhaled.
Respiratory system (anatomy)
- lung (airways leading)
- mouth
- nose
- larynx
- trachea
- aveoli & bronchioles
- diaphragm
Immune (lymphatic system)
helps to defend the body against infection and disease
- > innate immune system responds directly to invaders
- > adaptive involves specialized white blood cells that responds to specific types of invaders
Immune system ( anatomy)
- thymus
- bone marrow
- spleen
- lymph nodes
- tonsils
- lymphoid tissue
Digestive system ( meaning)
allows the body to break down food into simpler substances so they can enter blood stream
-> serves to filter and remove waste from the body
( ingestion , digestion absorption)
digestive system ( anatomy)
- mouth
- throat
- esophagus
- stomach
- large and small intestine
- liver
Urinary system (meaning)
allows the body to eliminate waste products and regulate its water and chemical balance
organs collect and produce urine.
Urinary system (anatomy)
- two kidney
- the bladder
- connecting tissue
- urethra (allows waste to leave)
- ureter
reproductive system (meaning)
- > specialized organs that allow the males and females to reproduce
- formation of sperm in males and deliver them in females
- females it produces sex cells but also protecting nurturing the fetus and nursing the newborn baby
reproductive system ( anatomy)
female
- uterus
- ovary
- vagina
- uterine
- uterine tube
male
- seminal vesicle
- ductus deferenes
- prostate
- testis
- urethra
- penis
skeletal system
supports the body , protects vital organs , and works in conjunction with muscles to cause movement bones .produce the blood cells and store minerals.
skeletal system ( anatomy)
- flat rib bones
- long bones (arms legs)
- skull bones
- vertebral column
- pelvis
- ligament
- joint capsule
- spine
Muscular system ( meaning)
the system that is composed of skeletal smooth, and cardiac muscle tissue and functions in movement of the body or of materials through the body , maintenance of posture and heat production
Muscular system ( anatomy)
skeletal muscle= connects bones and responsible for voluntary movements
smooth muscles = found within organs , involved with processes that occur automatically (digestion)
cardiac muscles= found in the heart, pumping blood to other parts of the body
Nervous system ( meaning)
regulates the body’s responses to internal and external stimuli
acts as control center includes the central nervous system , peripheral nervous system
-autonomic involuntary fight or flight
nervous system (anatomy)
- brain
- spinal cord ( brain and spinal both central )
- nervous network (peripheral nervous system)
Endocrine system (meaning)
consists of glands that secrete hormones that in turn regulate various activities , including metabolism growth and development. hormones help balance body systems
Endocrine system ( anatomy)
- brain (hypothalamus)
- pituitary gland
- thyroid gland
- adrenal gland
- pancreas
- sex glands
cardiovascular
transports nutrients, gases, waste products
protects the body from infection blood clot
maintain body temperature
maintain fluid balance within body
cardiovascular anatomy
- 4 chambered heart
- arteries ( blood to tissues)
- capillaries ( nutrients , gasses pass to and from the tissue)
- veins ( returning blood from tissue to heart)
Intergumentary system
is the skin replete with glands sensory receptors , vessels , immune cells and antibodies and layers of cells and keratin resisting environmental factors harmful to the body
