Circulatory System
Major Organs: heart, lungs, arteries and veins
The Circulatory System moves blood and transports nutrients throughout the body, such as oxygen, CO2, and hormones.
Digestive System
Major Organs: stomach, small + large intestine
The Digestive System breaks down food into small pieces which are then used as nutrients for our body.
Endocrine System
Major Organs: pancreas, glands that produce hormones
The Endocrine is responsible for producing hormones that regulate the body’s growth, metabolism, and sexual development/function.
Integumentary System
Major Organs: skin, hair, nails, and glands
The Integumentary system’s main focus is to protect the body from the outside world, as well as retaining fluids, protecting against disease, and regulating body temp.
Immune System
Major Organs: lymphoids, spleen, liver
The role of the Immune System is to protect the body against disease.
Muscular System
Major Organs: skeletal, cardiac, smooth
The Muscular System is used to contract and cause movement.
Nervous System
Major Organs: brain, nerves that connect organs
The organs of the Nervous System work together to communicate to the rest of the body and controlling the body’s functions.
Urinary System
Major Organs: kidney’s, bladder
The Urinary System is to filter blood and create urine, which is a waste product.
Reproductive System
Major Organs: ovary, testes
The female reproductive system is to produce egg cells and protect/nourish and offspring while the male reproductive system is meant to create and deposit of sperm.
Respiratory System
Major Organs: lungs
The main job of the Respiratory System is to take in oxygen and expel Carbon Dioxide.
Skeletal System
Major Organs: bones, cartilage, ligaments, tendons
The bones in the Skeletal System form the shape of the body and protect the functions of the organs inside, as well as supporting the rest of the body.
