biometrics Flashcards
How does the biometric of Fingerprints work?
A scanner captures an image of your fingerprint and compares the ridges, furrows, and where the edges end to other similar fingerprints.
How does the biometric of voice work?
The sound, rythm, and pattern of your voice is recorded, assigned a score, and matched against others w/ a similar score.
How does the biometric of face recognition work?
A camera captures an image of your face + analyzes for specific points, and then matches it against other templates.
How does the biometric of a retinal scan work?
A retinal scan measures the pattern of blood vessels in the back of the eye by shining an infrared light onto the people.
How does the biometric of DNA work?
DNA is retrieved by blood, saliva, hair, or skin. Length/protein are analyzed to create a DNA profile which is compared to other profiles.
How accurate is the biometric of fingerprinting?
Fingerprinting varies according to gender, race, and chemical residue left.
Rate: 95%-98%
How accurate is the biometric of voice?
Voice recognition is not as accurate because of background noises, colds, and different equipments used and is best used with other biometrics.
How accurate is the biometric of facial recognition?
Facial Recognition accuracy varies on light, angles, gender, age, and a controlled condition.
Rate: 80%-90%
How accurate is the biometric of a retinal scan?
The retinal scan is the most accurate biometric with the exception to blind, contacts, ethnicity, and eye color.
How accurate is the biometric of DNA?
DNA biometrics are accurate because the chances of having the same DNA of other people are very low.
