Dermatitis herpetiformis

A

Associated with Coeliac Disease
IgA against transglutaminases -> cross reaction between these ab’s and epidermal transglutaminases

Skin biospy req’d for dx

Tx: dapsone in early stages of tx, check no g6pd, otherwise nil gluten

A

1/ inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis
2/ It’s part of a group of inflammatory disorders (neutrophillic dermatoses)
3/ Steroids and surgery

1/Is a reactive inflammation of subcutis or panniculitis to certain antigens

idiopathic 55% 
Infection 20%
  bacterial (TB), viral (e.g. hsv, hbv, hsv), throat infections
  fungal, parasitic 
Sarcoid 13%
Adverse drug rxn (e.g. ocp) 
Pregnancy 
Inflammatory bowel disease e.g. crohn's 
3/ 
Has a self limiting course, resolves in 6-8 weeks without treatment
