What is Alopecia areata?
A
is an autoimmune condition with associated patchy bald spots. This may progress further into alopecia totalis with total body hair loss.

Androgenic Alopecia

- -> “Male pattern baldness”
- ->Can effect females: ?acne, hirsituism, irregular menses
–>Hair transplant, Wigs, Medical → Minoxidil (topical), Finasteride (oral)

A
Loss of hair 2-4/12 after a physicaly or psychologically stressful event
E.g. stress, acute illness, emotional crisis, pregnancy,

A
Check for fe deficiency
Thyroid deficiency
Protein deficiency

Cicatricial alopecia
A
Scarring from fibrotic destruction of the hair follicle
E.g. secondary to lupus
