SYS - Propulsion 2 Flashcards
Location of Engine Data Manager (EDM)?
Right avionics bay
Main function of the EDM? (2)
- Monitors engine operating parameters
- provides discrete alerts to each IAC
Non engine related functions of the EDM? (7)
- fuel balancing
- fuel quantity indication
- Display of DC Volts, DC amps, Hyd pressure, cockpit PA, and cockpit differential pressure
Where is the Crew Alerting System (CAS) displayed?
- bottom portion of the EICAS
What does the CAS display? (4)
- warnings - red
- cautions - Amber
- status - green
- conditions - white
When will the IOAT digital readout turn to Amber?
- when IOAT is 3deg C or less and the Probes Anti-Ice is not ON.
What three colours can the DC voltage readout be?
White, Amber, and red.
When does the cockpit altitude readout turn to a,bear along with master caution?
Above 19000ft cabin altitude
When does cockpit differential pressure turn red along with master warning?
- when exceeds 3.9-4 spider
Where in the engine is N1 measured?
The speed of the compressor turbine measured by a pulse sensor in the accessory gearbox
What is ground resonance for the propellor?
Self excited vibration caused by dynamic coupling between specific frequency ranges of the propellor and the ground
RPM range for ground resonance and how displayed on EICAS?
- 62-80%, white text on a red background
Normal operating range of oil pressure?
90-120psi
Where is hydraulic pressure measured?
- on the power pack reservoir
What two types of temperatures does the fire warning system measure?
- average
- discrete
The core element is filled with _________ gas and responds to ___________ heat caused by ______________ .
- Hydrogen gas
- localised heat
- fire or hot gases
The sensor tube is filled with __________ gas and responds to ___________ temperatures for ___________ sensing.
- Helium
- average
- overheat
How does the sensor tube detect average temperature overheat?
Helium expands and increases pressure triggering an overheat/fire signal.
How does the inner core sense a hot fire or got gas?
As the core element temperature increases it releases hydrogen into the sensor tube. This hydrogen mixes with the helium, increasing pressure and setting off the overheat/fire trigger.
How many fire sensor tubes?
Two
How test each fire sensor system?
With the fire warning system test switch - 1 or 2 position.
What does the firewall shutoff handle close? (3)
- hydraulic fluid
- fuel to the engine
- bled air from the engine
