SYS - Fuel System Flashcards
How many integral fuel tanks?
3
How much usable fuel?
1100lbs - when using the primary refuel method
Two ways of refuelling?
- pressure refuelling - single point adapter
- gravity fill - ports in each outer wing
Generically how is fuel fed to the engine?
Motive flow system - siphoning effect
Number and name of pumps for normal operation?
Engine driven low and high pressure pumps
What is electric boost pump for?
Engine starting
What supplies fuel during negative g?
A fuel pick up valve in the central collector tank
Is the fuel balancing automatic?
Yes
Name of fuel tanks?
Left wing
Collector
Right wing
Max fuel from overwing refuelling?
1200lbs
When primary refuelling how is fuel distributed (in lbs) between the three tanks?
Left and right = 530lbs
Collector tank = 40 lbs
Where is single point refuelling location?
Left side of fuselage just in front of the wing
How long does it take to refuel using pressure refuelling?
3-5 min
How does refuelling automatically shut off?
Level control pilot valves at each outboard wing closes the level control shut off valves when fuel reaches them
How much more in each wing can you get from overwing refuelling?
Extra 50lbs
Where is the manifold valve?
At the front of the collector tank
Does the fuel filter have a bypass?
Yes
How many fuel shutoff valves and how operated?
Two, firewall shutoff operated by the firewall shut off handle. Maintenance shut off valve.
Is the fuel flow transmitter downstream or upstream of the FMU?
Downstream
Where does excess fuel not used by the engine go?
Through a purge line back to the collector tank
What drives the primary and transfer jet pumps?
Fuel from the low pressure pump sent down the motive flow line
When is the electric boost pump activated? (2)
- below 10psi in the motive flow line
- and, PCL is in start Ready position
Primary jet pump takes fuel from where to where?
From collector tank to low pressure pump
Transfer jet pumps take fuel from where to where?
Wing tanks to collector tanks
