SYS - Hydraulics 2 Flashcards
What type and number of flaps?
Split flap, four, inboard and outboard on each wing
What Bus powers the flaps?
Battery
How does the flap know it’s in position?
A cam on the torque tube activates position sensors.
What must happen first before the emergency flap can be used?
The emergency landing gear handle must be activated.
Electrically, when is normal flap operation unable? (2)
When battery bus has failed or aux batter is only source of power
Electrical source for emergency flap?
Hot battery bus
How can tell flaps extending with no indication in the cockpit?
Can’t see the flaps visually but should not a small pitch up
Two benefits of speedbrake?
Decrease speed
Increase descent rate without increasing airspeed
What Bus powers the speedbrake?
The generator bus
Can the speed brake be extended to be in between up and out?
No
When will the speedbrake not extend?
If flaps are out
What will automatically retract the speedbrakes? (2)
- flaps extended to takeoff or landing
- PCL moved to max
Which speedbrake switch controls the speedbrake?
Whichever switch is pushed last
What pitch change is experienced when extending the speedbrake?
Pitch up
How is the pitch up tendency from speedbrake extension compensated?
Speedbrake is interconnected to the elevator trim tab actuator
