Synaptic transmission Flashcards
1
Q
Synaptic transmission
A
How neurons communicate with each other via the synapse, which separates them.
2
Q
Neurotransmitters
A
Chemicals that transmit information from one neuron to another, over the synapse.
3
Q
Excitation
A
When a neurotransmitters increases the positive charge of the postsynaptic neuron. This increases the likelihood the neuron will fire and pass on the electrical impulse.
4
Q
Inhibition
A
When a neurotransmitters increases the negative charge of the postsynaptic neuron. This decreases the likelihood the neuron will fire and pass on the electrical impulse.
