Split brain research into hemispheric lateralisation Flashcards
1
Q
Hemispheric lateralisation
A
Idea that he two hemispheres of the brain are functionally different, and certain mental processes and behaviours are mainly controlled by one hemisphere than the other.

Q
Dr Sperry split-brain research - (1960) - (3 points)
A
- AIM :
- Sperry studied individuals who had a severed corpus callosum.
- PROCEDURE :
- Image presented to right visual field and could be processed in the left hemisphere (and vice versa). In a split-brain individual, information could not be conveyed from hemisphere to to the other.
-RESULTS :
- Used to see the extent to which hemispheres were specialised for specific functions.
