Acute chest syndrome

A
  • can lead to severe hypoxia, the need for mechanical ventilation CPAP (continous postive aorway pressure) and exchange transfusion

Symptoms: fever, non productive cough, laboured breathing, tachypnea, reduced air entry at both bases
