Jaundice, pallor, dark urine

- think of harmolysis
G6PD, haemolytic anemia, (SCD and Thallassemia no dark urine),

Acute chest syndrome
A
- can lead to severe hypoxia, the need for mechanical ventilation CPAP (continous postive aorway pressure) and exchange transfusion
Symptoms: fever, non productive cough, laboured breathing, tachypnea, reduced air entry at both bases

Features of SCD
A
- anemia
- infection ie fever
- painful crisis
- priaprism
- spleenomegaly
