An obese child is at risk of
- hypertension
- DM
- slipped capital femoral epiphysis
- blount disease, a cause of bow leg
- sleep apnea and CO2 retention ( Pickwick syndrome)
- psycological disorders such as low self esteem

Ddx:
- severe acute malnutrition (absence of ascites)
- nephrotic syndrome (presence of ascites)

Clinical signs of malnutrition
A
- Nappy pants
- visible wasting
- dermatosis
- hair change
- generalized edema
