Syd and Casey, Part 2 Flashcards
1
Q
- Start, I have first line.
A
- What are you doing?
2
Q
- Clearing the house…up for grabs.
A
- Let’s get one thing straight. Picking the houses we clear, that’s my job. I do that by myself.
3
Q
- It was unmarked. I’m sorry, I was just trying to help out.
A
- And I appreciate that, but there’s a very specific way that all this needs to get done.
4
Q
- That’s fine. Show me what to do.
A
- Wouldn’t you rather just watch a movie or something?
5
Q
- No, I’d like to serve as a productive member of my community.
A
- Are you making fun of me again?
6
Q
- Am I?
A
- Nevermind. Did you collect all the batteries?
7
Q
- Batteries?
A
- Yes, step one is collecting batteries. From appliances, clocks, smoke alarms, anything. That’s the most valuable resource.
8
Q
- And then collecting electronics…right?
A
- Yes. Remind me to show you the huge collection of DVDs at the library. I watch them on laptops, portable players, anything I can get my hands on. You like comedies?
9
Q
- Yeah, yeah, I like comedies.
A
- We’ve got a a whole section that’s just comedy films, and not just the mainstream stuff either. Some of the titles have been out of print for—
10
Q
- I guess they’re all out of print now, technically.
A
- Did you clean out the fridge?
11
Q
- Why?…it’s not like…after we leave.
A
- You ever learn about entropy in school? It’s understood as a measure of disorder, the capacity for randomness in a given system.
12
Q
- I took biology, I know what entropy is.
A
- Think about the implications. The more entropy in a system, the more potential for chaos.
13
Q
- Variables upon variables. Endlessly unpredictable outcomes.
A
- Right. But when you reduce the amount of entropy is a system, you can control for error.
14
Q
- So every piece…disorder in the universe?
A
- Exactly!
15
Q
- Man, what I wouldn’t give for some Neapolitan ice cream right now.
A
- What’s that?
