Allie & Nel, Part 3 Flashcards
1
Q
- Hey, long time, no see.
A
- Thanks for agreeing to meet with me.
2
Q
- That’s what former co-workers do, right?
A
- Friends.
3
Q
- Sure. Why am I here, Nel?
A
- I…I wanted to apologize.
4
Q
- For what?
A
- When I told you I didn’t want to work together anymore, I said some things I didn’t mean.
5
Q
- That’s ancient history. It’s been years. We’ve both moved on, haven’t we?
A
- I guess. I mean, I have no idea what’s been going on with you since then. How have you been doing?
6
Q
- Fine.
A
- No, really. I want to know.
7
Q
- I said fine. I’ve been doing fine.
A
- Okay…well, I can tell you how I’m doing. I’ve been seeing someone, like dating. Actually, we got engaged a few weeks ago. Bet you never thought you’d hear me say that, right? It’s all because of what you said to me that day, about thinking more long-term.
8
Q
- I was just doing my job.
A
- You were doing so much more than that. And I didn’t appreciate it at the time, I fought back with you about everything you said, but your words meant a lot, and I wouldn’t be where I am without you. So, thank you.
9
Q
- What is this? Are you just on some noble quest to clear your conscience before you get married?
A
- What?!
10
Q
- Look, I don’t know what happened that day, but it felt like I lost my best friend. You really hurt me…brag about how awesome your life is and move on?
A
- No, that’s not it at all, I know it was a big deal, I was wrong, about everything, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve replayed that argument in my head, over and over, I was being so selfish and stubborn, and thought I could do everything on my own but you were just looking out for me, like you always do, I took that for granted, I know I hurt you and I’m truly sorry.
11
Q
- Okay, thank you, I really do appreciate it.
A
- I still want to know.
12
Q
- Know what?
A
- How you’ve been doing!
13
Q
- After we split, I didn’t feel good about the work I was doing anymore. And trying to be practical…wasn’t getting me anywhere. …and followed my gut instead.
A
- Did you quit management?
14
Q
- Yeah, I left the label…making a difference, a good one.
A
- That sounds incredible! I’m really happy for you.
15
Q
- Thanks…I’m sorry too…some of the things I said that day were so out of line.
A
- It’s really ok. I was being such a brat.
