What are the prechecks before issuing a SWA-01 (5)
Ensure section is clear and there are no opposing movements (check last train/track occupancy is clear
Advise opposing movements at crossing stations of SWA intentions
Check with adjacent signaller that no conflicting movements are authorised
Confirm route is correctly set
If setting back, is a pilot required
What are the prechecks before issuing a SWA-02 (6)
Verify disabled train location
Establish where relief is coming from
Confirm protection being used
Check the authority will not conflict with other train/track occupancies
Check and confirm route is correctly set
Undertake any additional checks if setting back to station in rear
What are the prechecks before issuing a SWA-03? (5)
Confirm identity ad location of Operator of MTMV/WT
Crosscheck with any signaller controlling entry into the PWA
Confirm with RPO that it is safe and there is a clear understanding before starting SWA-03 issue process
Check and confirm route is correctly set
What are the steps to prepare and transmit a SWA-01 (5)
Apply Blocking
Draw on TCD
Prepare SWA-01 and add authority number to TCD
Transmit to signaller if applicable and obtain correct read-back
Transmit to Operator ad obtain correct read-back
What are the steps to prepare and transmit a SWA-02? (6)
Apply Blocking
Draw on TCD
Prepare SWA-02 and add the authority number to the TCD
Transmit to signaller if applicable and obtain correct read-back
Transmit the SWA-02 (Clauses1-3) to the Operator of the disabled train and obtain correct read-back
Transmit the SWA-02 to the Operator of the relief train and obtain a correct read-back
What are the steps to prepare and transmit a SWA-03? (5)
Apply blocking
Draw on TCD
Prepare SWA-03 and add authority number to TCD
Transmit the SWA-03 to the signaller if applicable and obtain correct read-back
Transmit the SWA-03 to the Operator and obtain a correct read-back
What happens when a change of scope is required for a SWA-01/02
The SWA must be reissued - in Other instructions of the new SWA include the cancellation of the previous SWA
What happens when a change of scope is required for a SWA-03?
The SWA must be cancelled, a new route set and then a new SWA issued
What are the additional checks when issuing a SWA-02 and the disabled train is being recovered from the station in the rear? (4)
Confirm there are no following movements in the section behind the disabled train and the station in the rear
Confirm any track occupancies authorised to enter the block section are clear
Tell the Operators of any opposing rail vehicles crossing/waiting o use the affected line at the station in the rear
Issue the SWA-02 to the Signaller at the station in the rear (when locally controlled)
