Q

Peace and Security

A

When a country is experiencing peace, people in this country are able to go about daily tasks such as grocery shopping that they would not be able to if conflict existed. Thus promoting physical health and wellbeing.

17
Q

Biodiversity

A

If a species within an ecosystem becomes removed, such as bees which provide canola, sunflower then these crops become increasing difficult to grow. This could decrease the world food supply, increasing food insecurity leading to a decreased amount of food to fulfill energy needs and resulting in low energy levels thus impacting physical health and wellbeing.

18
Q

Climate Change

A

By ensuring climate change is minimized allows weather and rainfall patters to stabilize, which may reduce the rate and severity of natural disasters. This will reduce the number of injuries and deaths that occur as a result of these events which will promote physical health and wellbeing and help maintain infrastructure that is required for social, emotional, mental and spiritual health and wellbeing.

19
Q

Use of natural resources

This increases food security and promotes eating amount of food to meet energy needs, resulting in adequate energy levels and therefore promoting physical health and wellbeing.

20
Q

Waste removal and pollution

A

Adequate waste removal and maintaining environmental purity ensures access to clean water for current and future generations worldwide. This can prevent infectious water borne diseases such as chloera, leading to the absence of disease and illness and therefore promote physical health and wellbeing.

21
Q

4 global trends

A
  1. Climate Change (rising sea levels, extreme weather events, changing weather patterns)
  2. Tourism and world trade
  3. Digital technologies and knowledge sharing
  4. Conflict and mass migration
22
Q

Tourism and World Trade

A

Positive for health and wellbeing: An increase in tourism promotes greater opportunities for jobs as staff are needed for hotels and restaurants in popular areas. This increases job stability for locals who live in these areas and causes them to have a stable income, reducing stress and anxiety associated with unemployment and thus increasing mental health and wellbeing.

Negative for health and wellbeing: An increase in tourism means an increase in people traveling within and between borders by plane, which puts harmful gases into the air and contributes to air pollution. An increase in air pollution means an increase in climate change, with people in agricultural areas experiencing more extreme weather events due to this. More extreme weather events means that more crops will be destroyed, increasing farmers’ stress and anxiety and decreasing mental health and wellbeing.

23
Q

Climate Change (rising sea levels, extreme weather events, changing weather patterns)

A

Positive for health and wellbeing: No positive?? – maybe increase in resilience therefore promoting emotional health and wellbeing.

Negative for health and wellbeing: A rise in extreme weather events due to climate change such as hurricanes in tropical areas destroy homes and ruin the natural landscape, leading to an increase in displacement and homelessness. Displacement can ruin an individual’s sense of belonging to a community, thus decreasing spiritual health and wellbeing.

24
Q

Conflict and mass migration

A

Positive for health and wellbeing: An increase in mass migration in low-income countries can lead to more people living in a particular area and buying from local shops, giving the local shops an increase in business sales and thus a stable income. A stable income can mean that the business owners will feel less stress and anxiety due to not having to worry about how to afford basic necessities, thus increasing mental health and wellbeing.

Negative for health and wellbeing: An increase in conflict means a rise in injuries due to stabbings and gun bullets attributed to conflict, meaning individuals will not be free from disease, illness and injury thus decreasing physical health and wellbeing.

25
Q

Digital technology and knowledge sharing

A

Positive for health and wellbeing: An increase in digital technology means increased access to timely healthcare, regardless of where someone may live through the introduction of Telehealth. Telehealth provides consultations with medical professionals for those who may live in remote areas, who are then able to be treated for their conditions, thus promoting well-functioning of the body and its systems and increasing physical health and wellbeing.

Negative for health and wellbeing: An increase in digital technology used means that it is more likely that young teenagers will be subject to online bullying over social media as more people will have access to mobile devices such as phones. Online bullying can decrease confidence in young teenagers, leading to a decrease in mental health and wellbeing.
