What is a random sample
When you choose a sample by rolling dice, choosing names from a hat, or other real randomly generated samples. Humans can’t do this well without the help of a device or paper or cards or dice.
What is frequency?
Frequency is how often something occurs/ comes up
Data vs Datum
Datum (singular) ex. I collected datum from my sister
Data (plural) ex. I collected data from a few of my neighbors
What is frequency distribution?
A table, or chary that shows how often something occurs
What is relative frequency
How often something occurs compared to the total. In other words the percent of time something comes up. Frequency/total
How to find relative frequency?
Divide by the total
What is meant by cumulative frequency?
Sum the frequency as you go . . . . . . . . . . _ _ _ _ _

3- occurs twice
2- occurs once
1- occurs twice
Ex. Two people got one
Three people got a two or lower
Five people got a three or lower
What is relative cumulative frequency
Add up percentages as you go
What is the difference between a chart and a histogram?
Chart: categorical data (columns do not touch)
Histogram: quantitative data (bars touch)
