Q

maintain active lifestyle

A

one of my main motivations to join the defence force is actually to be able to maintain an active lifestyle. I have maintained as active lifestyle right throughout my school years and before that. It’s one of my biggest priorities and I always told myself that I would maintain that post high school. I know that the adf can offer me that opportunity to stay active however I am obviously aware the training in the adf is going to be demanding but I am excited for that physical challenge and motivated by the opportunity to overcome and build from those challenges.
i want continue maintaining and building my fitness to not only suit the requirements form my role but also just for the overall health benefits of staying active.

Q

leadership and why officer roles

A
  • i have purposely chosen officer roles because I feel that leadership roles I have held throughout highschool has has already equipped me with valuable leadership and communication experience which I am eager to further build upon and develop through the ADF Gap Year program. I’m excited and motivated by the opportunity to expand on my leadership skills and implement these into my role as an adf officer.

Q

gap year role

A
  • I have chosen to apply for a gap year role rather than entering straight in through ways such as ADFA and that is so I can spend the year really getting a feel for military life and what the adf has to offer.
  • it will give me the opportunity to decide what I want to study whether that potentially through adfa or whether I continue on at a different uni.
  • I can also say that I have worked hard this year with my stud to the best possible result can and I genuinely think I could benefit from some time of studying and learn skills that will equip me for nay career.
  • If I am successful in getting into the adf I do see myself continuing on with a career in defence however I like the idea of not being fully committed yet because it will give me an opportunity to really decide of I career in the adf is what I want.
