- Defence’s primary role is to defend Australia and its national interests through a variety of means like ensures security of the nations boarders, supports and maintains peacekeeping and humanitarian missions, providing disaster relief and contribute to global security efforts .
It comprises of the Navy, Army and Airforce which work together to contribute to defence capabilities.

- Operation Orenda was the Australian Defence Force contribution to the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission and ceased on 31 December 2023.
- Operation highroad From 2001 to 2021, Australia’s mission in Afghanistan supported coalition efforts to contain the threat from international terrorism and support the Afghan Government.
