initial military training

where and when will you initial training be

Answer 1

• for both roles I am applying for, I will complete the New entry officer course at the Royal Australian Navy College in HMAS Creswell Jarvis Bay
• it will be a 15 week course which incudes a three week initial training period.
• it is conducted in January and July

what will it involve

• In the NEOF I will lean the skills, knowledge and attributes required to be a successful Navy Officer
• Training includes classroom learning as well practical learning. I will learn about military life, Navy history, first aid and weapon handling as well as develop my leadership and communication skills to be an effective officer.
• i will also do the Navy swim test here too
• early morning activities every second day
• Sea familiarisation is a weeklong trip on board the College’s vessel Seahorse Horizon, where the basics of seamanship learnt in the classroom are applied
• Security acquaintance course
• Risk management induction
• New weapons and technology

what are some challenges and how will you overcome them

Answer 3

• I know that during the three week initial training period, their is very limited access to phones and not being able to communicate with family and friends will be a challenge. I plan to overcome this by building strong relationships with my peers and just having an understanding that we will all be in the same situation and just knowing that after the three weeks I will be able to speak with my family and they will be so proud.
• I am aware that the physical training is going to be challenging. (early morning activities every second day). I have been maintaining fairly rigorous training schedule and so I can be as prepared as possible for that challenge.
