A
  • to administer large amounts under the skin for slow absorption of fluid replacement
  • used to reverse or prevent mild to moderate dehydration
  • used for patients that cannot be hospitalised
  • O can be taught to administer SQ fluids (renal failure)

  • needle and syringe method
  • syringe and butterfly catheter
  • fluid bag with solution administration set and needle (18-20gauge)
  • fluid bag with Buretrol administration set and needle (very precise)
  • GIF tube (needless SQ fluid administration via an implant under the skin)
