Describe the 1st stage of the 3 step prep

A
  • add a liberal amount of water to 2-3 gauze squares
  • scrub the solution into the gauze
  • cleans the skin surface
  • don’t scrub too harshly as it may irritate the skin

  • 70% isopropyl alcohol
  • 1-2 gauze squares
  • is used to remove the soap residue
  • is applied to the area in three lines with the 1st line being the middle one (b/c that is where the needle is going)
