What type of fluids do burn pats get to treat loss of fluid
crystalloids
What is DIC
Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation
causes constant cloting around the body
What are the s/s of DIC
petechiae easy bruising/bleeding signs of resp clot signs of heart clot confusion
What is the treatment of DIC
platelet and coag factor replacement with FFP
Heperin only if risks out way benefit s
Why would heparin be dangerous to use with DIC
bodies clotting factors are already being used up to fast on random clots so heparin would slow clotting down further increasing hemorrhage risk
What is the ROME method
Respiratory opposite metabolic equal
How to use the ROME method
look at pH, assess if its low or high, then compare the “low or highness” to CO2 and bicarb. If pH is low but CO2 is high then thats opposite directions so its respiratory acidosis
What is the rule of 9’s
Head/Neck 9% Each arm 9% Torso 36% Genitals: 1% Each leg 18%
Priority care for burn pat after wound debridgement and dressing
asfd
What is a common complicaiton with bleeding and DIC pats
ab distention from GI bleeding
What is a way to keep an eye on DIC pats and GI bleeds
if they have distention, measure the girth and mark it so the next nurse can continue assessments
What care is important for burn pats after fluids have been addressedd
nutrition care within several hours of the burn
Will a central line be removed and cultured if there are signs of infection like fever and the site doesnt look good
