- It has a unique ecoystem, with special grass called ‘Marram Grass’ growing on the sand and holds the dunes together

- When the wind deposits sand as low hills behind a beach on a low flat area

A
- The nature reserve with its sand dunes and heath is a vulnerable environment. The vegetation takes many years to establish, and if the habitat is destroyed the ecosystem will break down

- The area attracts many tourists and the beach can get very crowded in summer
- The nature reserve is home to rare species of plants and birds, all six native British reptiles
