NAACP to the case of Linda Brown to the Supreme Court as Linda had to walk miles to the local segregated lack school when there was a white school much closer the NAACO argued that Linda’s school was separate but not equal and won the case

Supreme Court ruled all states had to integrate their schools
First major legal victory for black people and inspired more action
Showed Supreme Court would not tolerate secretion

9 black children enrolled at little rock high but governor of Arkansas blocked their way with state guards next day he removed the guards but an angry white mob prevented entry president esinhower sent guards to protect black students

Media showed how racist USA was which was embarrassing

James merredith was not allowed to enrol into Mississippi high uni despite Supreme Court ruling to allow it president Kennedy then sent troops in to escort Meredith round campus
