What does the thyroid gland do
Thyroxine is main product of thyroid which affects many body systems and has roles in controlling growth and development.
what do the adrenal glands do
produce hormones that help regulate metabolism, immune system, blood pressure and response to stress
what do the ovaries do
Growth of follicle cells increase resulting in the cells secreting oestrogen which causes thickening of the lining of the uterus
produce and store ovum and control menstrual cycle
what do the testes do
responsible for making sperm and involved in producing testosterone
what is diabetes mellitus
an absence of insulin or a resistance to insulin
Type 1 is where little or no insulin is produced
Type 2 is where there’s insufficient insulin produced
what is diabetes insipidus
where there’s a large volume of urine produced due to lack of antidiuretic hormone which controls reabsorption of water.
what is hypothyroidism
reduction of production of thyroxine which is related to growth.
can lead to slow metabolism therefore slower heart rate and breathing, slow digestion and constipation and slow mental process.
