What are biological stressores?

What are Enviornmental stressors?
Poverty, pollution, crowds, natural disasters

-parents getting a divorce
What are stressors?
anything that can cause stress; people, objects, places, events and situations
Thinking Stressors:
The way you perceive a situation
Personal behavior stressors
negative reactions in the body and mind caused by personal choice.
What are the stages of stress?
1) Alarm
2) Resistance
3) Fatigue
What is “Alarm” stage?
1st stage- body and mind are on high alert
What is Fight or Flight?
prepares the body to either defend itself or flee from the threat
What is the Resistance stage of stress?
2nd stage - body adapts to the rush created by the alarm and reacts
-picks fight or flight
What is the fatigue stage of stress?
3rd stage - occurs when exposure to stress is prolonged and the body loses its ability to adapt to the situation and a tired feeling takes over.
What is a psychosomatic response?
physical reactions that result from stress rather than an injury or illness.
What are some types of psychosomatic responses?
-headaches
-asthma
-High blood pressure
-weakened immune system
