Question 1

एकस्मिन् वृक्षे एक काकः वसति | एकस्मिन् दिने काकः बहु पिपासितः भवति | अत्र पश्यति, जलं नास्ति | तत्र पश्यति, जलं नास्ति | सर्वत्र पश्यति जलं नास्ति | काकः बहु दूरम् उड्डयति | तत्र एकं घटं पश्यति | घटस्य अन्तः पश्यति | तत्र स्वल्पं जलम् अस्ति | काकस्य चञ्चुः अन्तः न गच्छति | अतः काकः चिन्तयति | “आ एकः उपायः अस्ति !” काकः एकं शिलाखण्डं स्वीकरोति जले स्थापयति | पुनः एकं शिलाखण्डं स्वीकरोति जले स्थापयति | पुनः पुनः एवमेव करोति | जलम् उपरि आगच्छति | काकः जलं पिबति | अनन्तरं सः संतोषेण उड्डयति |

A crow lives in a tree. One day he becomes very thirsty. He looks here, there is no water. He looks there, there is no water. He sees everywhere, there is no water. The crow flies very far. There he sees a pot. He looks inside the pot. There is little water. Crows beak does not reach there. So, the crow thinks. “Ah! There is an idea”! The crow takes a pebble and puts it in the water. Again, the crow takes a pebble and puts it in water. Again, and again he does the same thing. The water comes up. The crow drinks the water. And then he flies happily.
