Exposition
The part of a story that introduces characters, setting and conflict.
The rising action
The series of events in which the protagonist acts that leads toward a climax
The Climax
Also called the turning point (Where the rising action turns to the falling action) the part where the protagonist makes a change or takes an action to address the conflict in a decisive way.
The falling action
The events immediately following the climax.
Denouement (Or resolution)
The conclusion. Things are tied up and the conflict is resolved. Moral stated here maybe…
Allegory
Stories where characters represent some larger part of the human experience
Alliteration
Succession of words with the same starting consonant
Analogy
Comparing two unlike things in a way that highlights a shared characteristic
Figurative language
Language which is not literally true, but illuminating of some great truth.
Hyperbole
Artful exaggeration to emphasize a point.

Words used to ellict visual, auditory, sensory experience
metaphor
Claiming falsly that something is something else in a way that illuminates something true about that thing.

Comparing something to something else in a way that uses like or as
