Sensory Memory
immediate, very brief recording of sensory information before it is processed into short-term, working, or long-term memory
Short-Term Memory
where information is stored for a short period of time before put in long term memory or forgotten
Long-Term Memory
where our information and skills go for later use and remembrance
Maintenance Rehearsal
process of repeating information to remember it (can strengthen short-term memory)
Elaborative Rehearsal
making conditions and associations with learning for deeper processing
Autobiographical Memory (HSAM
can remember everything, but cannot forget anything (only related to episodic memories)
Retrograde Amnesia
inability to retrieve memories from past
Anterograde Amnesia
inability to form new long-term explicit memories
Alzheimer’s Disease
your brain deteriorates at an abnormally fast rate and makes you start to lose memory
Infantile Amnesia
implicit memories from infancy are retained but most people don’t remember explicit memories till around age 3
