Q

Explain the dangers of large decelerations on cars

A

When a car is travelling at a high speed, a large braking force must be applied and so the car will decelerate rapidly.

This means that a large amount of kinetic energy is transferred to the brake’s thermal energy store which can cause the brakes to overheat and the driver to lose control of their vehicle
