Could survive a siege for a long time
Defensive lookouts means stone keep castles were rarely attacked without warning
Larger than motte and bailey castles so could house more soldiers
It had many defensive features
What are the weaknesses of a stone keep castle?
Expensive to build
Less effective if isolated
