Early complications of stomas
Bowel ischaemia or necrosis, bowel retraction, parastomal abscess, poor stoma function, high-output stoma
Late complications of stomas
Para-sternal hernia formation, bowel stenosis/prolapse, adhesions leading to obstruction, para-stomal dermatitis, bowel dysmotility, malabsorption, psychosocial complications
