How to needle st2?

A

Perpendicular 0,2-0,4 cun
RISK!! Deep insertion along the foramen may injure the eyeball. Manipulation by lifting and thrusting is contraindicated due to the risk of damaging the infraorbital nerve which emerges from the foramen

A

Level with tip of and 1,5 cun lateral to laryngeal prominence, in the depression between anterior border of scm and thyroid cartilage (also between carotid artery and lateral border of thyroid cartilage)

How to needle st9?

A

Perpendicular 0,5-1 cun
NB!! Palpate carotid artery first, and hold it laterally while needling to avoid puncturing it (consider whether you need to needle it)

Indications of st9?

A
  • Headache, dizziness, visual dizziness, red face, fullness of chest, shortness of breath, asthma, hypertension, hypotension
  • Swelling and pain of the throat, difficulty in swallowing
  • Lumbar pain
