Stomach Flashcards
How is the abdomen divided?
It is divided into 9 regions
By 2 types of planes
1- right, left vertical planes ( midclaviculer)
2- 2 horizantal planes
transpyloric ( subcostal )
Intertuberculer ( through tubercles of iliac crest )
Regions
Rt hypochondriac. Epigastric. Lt hypochondriac
Rt lumbar . Umblical . Lt lumbar
Rt iliac hypogastric lt iliac
Site of stomach ?
It is located in epigastric , lt hypochondriac and umbilical region
Decribe ?
• intraperitonel organ
• the most diliated part of gut tube
• j shaped organ
• consists of
2 openings ( cardiac, pyloric )
2 borders ( lesser, greater curvture)
2 surfaces
Parts of stomach ?
By 2 imaginary lines
• between cardiac notch ( incisura ) , greater curvature
• between angular notch ( incisura) , greater curvature
Into
Cardiac orifice
Fundus
Body
Pyloris regin with is divided into
• pyloric antrum
• pyloric canal
• pyloric sphincter
Talk about cardiac orifice
(5)
- at the site of gastrosephageal sphinctor
- physiological rather than anatomical sphincter ( due you to 6 )
- it prevents GERD
- 1inch to the left of midline
- level of T11
Talk about the fundus ?
- in x ray it appears black
- it contains usually gases
- in the left
- at the 5th intercostal space
- separated by apex of heart by diaphragm only
Talk about borders of it
1- lesser curvature
- it is suspended from the liver by the lesser omentum.
- rt, lt gastric vessels runs on it
2- greater curvature
- the lower part of it is attached to transverse colon by greater omentum
- gastroepiploic vessesls runs on it
Talk about sufaces , their relations
Anterior relation -:
• anterior abdominal wall
• Costal margin
• diaphram
• left lobe of liver
Posterior relations (stomach bed)
( seperated from the stomach by lesser sac except the spleen)
• Left diaphragm,
• Left kidney
•Left adrenal gland,
• pancreas
• transverse colon and mesocolon
• spleen ,spenic vessels
Surface anatomy of it
1- cardiac orifice : 2,5 cm to the left from the midline ( at the level of lower border of T 10 )
2- pyloric orifice : 1 inch to the right of the midline ( at the level of transpyloric plane L1)
Blood supply of stomach
Arterial supply : celiac trunk
Rt gastric , lt gastric on lesser curvature
Rt , lt gastroepiploic on greater curvature
Short gastric to fundus
Venous :
Parallel to the arteries then drain to portal vein
Lymphatic drainage
Rt, lt gastric nodes
Rt, lt gastroepiploic nodes
Short gastric nodes
All to celiac nodes
Innervation
Vagus nerve
Ant , post gastric ~> rt , lt gastric after rotation
