Enteric coating/modified release not suitable = insufficient effect from the drug
- Use forms with:quick action,liquids,capsules and uncharted soluable tablets

Diarrhoea- can be a result of which 4? Constipation is caused by what? Gi billed are caused by what?

A

sorbitol,magnesium,antacids,iron(ileostomy)
Constipation: caused by opioids,calcium antacids,iron(colostomy)
GI irritation and bleed: aspirin and NSAIDs

Diuretics/laxatives can cause what? So what is the alternative that we need to use? What can fluid and sodium deception lead to? What formulation of potassium do we prefer?

A

Diuretics/laxatives : dehydration = hypokalaemia = use K- sparing diuretics or potassium supplements
- Liquid forms of potassium proffered to MR forms
- Fluid and Na depletion = hypokalaemia = increased risk of digoxin toxicity
