Intrahepatic cholestasis in pregnancy:
Can occur during which trimester? What outcomes does it have? Treated with???
- During late pregnancy - adverse fatal outcomes
- Treatment with pruritus associated - ursodeoxycholic acid
Gallstones are what? Where are they formed and what are the majority of patients??
Hard mineral or fatty deposits forming stones in the gallbladder bile duct
- Majority of patients are asymptomatic - Irritated/blocked gallbladder - pain,infection and inflammation
Untreated choelistasis can lead to what? What would happen if symptoms develop? What is the drug treatment?? For mild/mod vs severe
It can lead to - biliary colic,cholecystitis,pancreatitis
- If symptoms develop - surgically removed
- Drug treatment =
- Mild to moderate pain:paracetamol or NSAID
- Severe pain:IM diclofenac
