- Tear or ulcer in the anal Canal = bleeding or pain on defamation

Acute anal fissure, how would it be treated?
A
- Ensure stool passes easier
- Treat with bulk forming or osmotic laxatives
- Topical or local anaesthetic (lidocaine)- only used for a few days
- Topical corticosteroids - use no more than 7 days due to side effects

In pregnancy what would you give?
A
Pregnancy - bulk forming laxatives - no topical hemorrhoidal preparations - only simple soothing preps if needed
