no routine unless previous heterosexual contact

Cultures from all sites

first pass urine (could be urethral swab)
oral sex does not require pharyngeal swab
What test should be performed on ALL genital ulceration?
HSV PCR
What tests should be done, if available, for syphilis in genital ulceration?
Minimum - Serology and follow up after window period

When should microscopy of rectal swab be performed?
proctitis
When should rectal swab be sent for HSV PCR?

When should rectal swab be tested for LGV CT?
proctitis OR HIV+
Swab of which female site should be performed for microscopy if GC/CT suspected?

What is the benefit of microscopy of a high vaginal swab in vaginal discharge?
Look for BV or candida
What benefit is a wet mount slide for microscopy?
To look for trichomonas vaginalis
MSM at high risk of STIs should be tested every 3 months - what does high risk include?
unprotected sexual contact (oral, genital, anal) with new partner
new STI diagnosis
