What is an other way to say stem cells ?
Undifferentiated cells
Are there stem cells in unborn babies ?
Yes. every was a stem cell before it became specialised
Are there stem cells in adults ?
Yes. However they are only found inside bone marrow and they can’t turn into any cell only certain types like blood cells.
Why is research of stem cells important ?
Because they can be used for cloning organs and ligaments, they may be able to cure many diseases as well
Why are some people against stem research ?
They feel that human embryos shouldn’t be used for research as there is potential for life. It is illegal in many countries (not UK)
what is a counter argument for people against stem cell research ?
The existing patients who are suffering are more important then the rights of the embryo’s. Embryo’s used for research are usually unwanted and would be destroyed.
Where are stem cells found in plants ?
they are found in the meristems and they can differentiate into any cell at any point in the plants life
