Active transport Flashcards
1
Q
what is active transport ?
A
It is the movement of particles against the concentration gradient, from low to high concentration. This uses energy.
2
Q
What is one example of active transport in plants ?
A
Root hair cells absorb water and minerals from the soil however the concentration of minerals is higher inside the root hair cells therefore active transport is used
3
Q
Give one example of active transport in humans ?
A
Transporting glucose from the gut to the blood, the concentration of glucose is higher in the blood then the gut therefore active transport is needed.
