STE Project Flashcards

1
Q

Impedance

A

Hindrance to flow of current in AC circuits, its caused by capacitor and inductor which is part of AC circuits. In DC it is called as Resistance.

Q

Netural vs Ground

A

Neutral: Part of normal operation in 3 phases, It will carry the current during operation for unbalanced current.

Ground: safety measure to provide least resistance path during fault current. not part of regular operations. This least resistance parth will give high sudden current flow which will trigger Circuit Breakers.

Q

FPGA

A

Field-Programmable Gate Array is a type of computer chip that you can program to perform specific tasks. Unlike regular chips that are made for one specific job, FPGAs can be changed to do different jobs after they are made. This means you can update or change what the chip does even after it has been installed. Think of an FPGA like a box of LEGO bricks. You can put the bricks together in different ways to create different structures. Similarly, you can arrange the components inside an FPGA to create different electronic circuits.

Q

Solid Wire vs Strand Wire

A

Strand Wire: Vibration, Flexibility (easy bending and Installation), reduce signal loss, better to handle mechanical stress, will not break during critical bending.

Solid Wire: High Current Carrying Capacity, Better conductivity and lower resistance, high corrosion resistance make it suitable for long-distance power transmission and straight installation. Ex: Residential Wiring, Underground Cables.
