What is the difference between a population and a sample?
A
- Population- the whole universe of cases (the larger group you want to generalized your findings to)
- Sample- a section of the population you are actually going to include in the research

What is the difference between a parameter and a statistic?
A
- Parameter- a fact about the population
- Statistic- a fact about the sample

What is the difference between an inferential and a descriptive statistic?
A
- Inferential- go beyond the sample to make statements about the characteristics of a much larger group
- Descriptive- constructs simple descriptions of the characteristics of a sample
