Statistics 2 Flashcards
Define confidence interval
Range of possible values for a given data set (eg. if a mean of 150k has a margin of error of 10k, the confidence margin is 140k to 160k)
Most ideal data set
the most diverse data while still staying true to the data subject
Factors that impact the margin of error
- Sample size
2. Variability in data (standard deviation from best fit line)
Given a certain value and how many times it occurs in dataset y. Determine how many times it occurs in a bigger dataset
Amount of values in bigger dataset*(# of times a certain value occurs in dataset y/total # of values)
As activity x increases, the frequency of event y does too, can it be concluded that the doing activity x can result in event y?
No, association ≠ causation
be alert of this in SAT
Define random assignment
Taking a random # of samples and randomly assigning it an activity/influence in order to add ‘control’ to an experiment
Translate the confidence level of a given range
The likelihood of a statistical measure of a range being a value or between two values
