Statistics Flashcards
What does sensitivity mean?
The ability to detect disease, when present
What does specificity mean?
The ability to identify normal, when disease is absent
What is positive predictive value (PPV)?
The portion of individuals with a positive result that actually have the condition
What is negative predictive value (NPV)?
The portion of individuals with a negative result that actually do not have the condition
What is accuracy?
Percent of total tests measured correctly
What is True positive (TP)?
Number of abnormal tests that both US and GS agree on
What does True negative (TN) mean?
Number of normal tests that both the US and GS agree on
What does False positive (FP) mean?
Number of tests the US deemed abnormal but the GS deemed normal
What does false negative mean?
Number of tests the US deemed normal but the GS deemed abnormal
What is the formula for sensitivity?
TP/ (TP+FN)
What is the formula for specificity?
TN/ (TN+FP)
What is the formula for PPV?
TP/ (TP+FP)
What is the formula for NPV?
TN/(TN+FN)
What is the formula for accuracy?
(TP+TN)/ (TP+TN+FP+FN)
What does standard deviation mean?
Looks at the spread of data around any mean or average value
What does prevalence mean?
The number of all cases in a population at one point in time, expressed as a ratio of the population’s size
What is the formula for prevalence?
(TP+FN)/ Total cases
What does incidence mean?
The rate of occurrence of new cases in a population in a defined period of time
