Statistics Flashcards
When do you use spearman’s rank correlation?
You use spearman’s rank if you are looking for a correlation or association between 2 variables.
When do you used Chi squared?
Use this test if you are checking whether your experimental data is as expected and is categoric
When do you use the Student T-test?
Use this test if you are comparing two means
What is the equation for the Chi squared test?
Chi squared = the sum of ((observed - expected)^2 / expected)
If your investigation involves finding the number of individuals in particular categories, which test should you use?
Chi2
If your investigation involves taking measurements, which test should you use?
Spearman’s rank correlation or student t test.
If your investigation involves looking for associations between different measurements from the same same, which test should you use?
Spearman’s rank correlation.
