- Set the derivative equal to 0 and solve.

- Maximum Point.

- Change of sign method (Show the gradient has a different sign each side of the turning point).
- The Second Derivative.

- It is not impossible for there to be another stationary point between the bounds and the point which you are testing.
- This means the method is not accurate.
