Q
Gastroduodenal artery
A
- Revise the relationships of the 1st part of the duodenum to the bile duct and gastroduodenal artery posteriorly, liver and gallbladder anteriorly, epiploic foramen superiorly, and head and neck of pancreas inferiorly
6
Q
Hepatic artery proper
A
- found medial to common bile duct
7
Q
Cystic artery
A
- Origin: right hepatic artery [but varies in some people]
- Arises from the cystohepatic triangle (of Calot)
8
Q
Bile duct
A
- Main pancreatic duct joins bile duct to form hepatopancreatic ampulla (ampulla of Vater), which drains in the 2nd part of the duodenum at the major duodenal papilla
- CHD join the cystic duct to form the common bile duct (CBD, bile duct) which conveys the bile to the duodenum
9
Q
Portal vein
A
- Receives the right and left gastric veins, superior pancreaticoduodenal vein, cystic vein. The paraumblicalveins, running along with the ligamentum teres joins the left branch of the portal vein
- Left and right branches of portal vein enter the liver through the porta hepatis
- CBD is located anterior to portal vein

Q
Superior Mesenteric artery
A
- Supplies the ascending and transverse colon
- Branches:
- Ileocolic
- Right colic
- Middle colic
- Anteriorly crosses the 3rd part of the duodenum
- SMA Syndrome:
- duodenum is compressed between the aorta and the superior mesenteric artery
