Static Electricity Flashcards
Static electricity
is a build up of electric charge that can occur on good insulators e.g. polythene and perspex rods
• A polythene rod
gains electrons if a woollen cloth is rubbed on it (becomes negatively charged)
A perspex rod
loses electrons if it is rubbed by a woollen cloth (becomes positively charged)
• An electric current
• An electric current is a flow of Electric charge
Conductors
• Conductors are substances which allow electric current to flow through them freely
Insulators
Insulators are substances which do not allow electric current to flow through them
Light
Light Energy so we can see in the dark
Heat
Heat energy so we can cook + heat buildings
Kinetic
Kinetic Energy for electric m
Sound
Kinetic Energy for electric music
