16 flight controls- check 1st flight of the day - “WNWNC”

A

W-Perform control sweeps (cyclic) to see if aviator worn gear is in the way (Restrictions).
N-Check 1.5” free play in collective
W-During collective movement, if either PRI SERVO FAIL cation appears, bypass valve is jammed, DNF.
N-Limit force applied to pedals only to contact a system stop with SAS?BOOST off to prevent flight control bearing/bolt noises.
C-If hydraulic access door is open, ensure rotor blades are not over nose to prevent contact with WSPS.

Q

21 FMS initialization-check as required “NNN”

A

N- FMS defaults to last known position and automatically updates date, time, and position with GPS data once available.
N-INIT will automatically engage once GPS acquires satellites and determines location.
The calculator PERFORMANCE function is only for value reference after verifying correct configuration of the A/C.

Q

Engine(s) Start “NWCNNCCNCN”

A

N-If conditions permit; engines may be started with inop or not installed rotor brake
W-If rotor brake moves to slippage, shutdown engines or release brake
C If started with IGN off, abort start and do not turn on
N-There will be no NP or Q, MAIN XMSN PRESS caution will remain, and all no.1 and no.2 hydraulic cautions remain on until the rotor brake is released
N-FUEL PRESS caution should disappear before engines stabilize at ground idle. If FUEL PRESS lights momentarily illuminate, do not use FUEL BOOST PUMP CONTROL switches to extinguish
C-PCL’s from idle to off. do not depress the starter button, it can damage the auto start switch actuator.
C-Cyclic neutral, collective less than 1’ above full down. Pedals centered until 50%RPM R to avoid anti flap bracket+bushing damage
N- If starter drops + PCL is off, press and hold starter button until 52-65% Ng is reached
C-Starts w/ rotor brake off and rotor engagements: minimize cyclic inputs to prevent droop-stop pounding.
N-NG may be above 65% w/ starter dropout due to 1sec delay

TGT-lightoff w/in 45sec
P w/in 45sec
NP1/NP2 w/in 45sec
ENG starter on caution disappears before reaching 52%Ng Speed
TGT reaches 851before idle is attained (63%Ng).

Q
  1. System Checks
A
  • Ng Speed 63% or greater within 3% of each
  • NP 1 or 2 not in 20-40 or 60-90range
  • XMSN Press at least 20
  • Eng oil press at least 22
  • 1+2 HYD PUMP caution disappeared
17
Q
  1. Hydraulic leak test system “NN”
A

N- Move switch to test and release, if not, it will leave the circuit open and will not test.
N- If backup pump is still running, reset off to auto for next test.

18
Q
  1. Tail Rotor Servo Check
A

N -If backup pump and #2 T/R do not illuminate, the LDI is inop

19
Q

2.(engine runup) Eng PCL’s FLY “WN”

A

W- Restrict the rate of movement when the tail wheel doesn’t denote LOCK. Rapid application could result in turning the helicopter and causing injury or loss of life.
N- For rotor brake operation, you must have approx 45%NR for S-E and 57% NR D-E prior to advancing EPCL’s.

20
Q
  1. Gen 1 Fail and Gen 2 Fail cautions disappear above 97%NR “N”
A

N- During SE ground operation with the collective full down, NP/NR may read 99%. Raise collective slightly to bring NP/NR to 100%

21
Q

(parking and shutdown)
17. Collective raise no more than 1”
“NN”

A

N- If external power is required it shall be connected and EXT POWER switch to RESET.
N- If a blind shutdown must be performed complete normal shutdown of #2 engine first.
